Treetops Teacher/Outdoor Class Teacher
Kacy grew up on the East Coast in Gloucester, MA and moved west to Catalina Island to teach Marine Science.
In 1995, she received her BA in Human Ecology at College of the Atlantic and student taught 5th grade. Kacy started her own business and still runs, Discovery Adventures, a kayaking and snorkeling camp in her hometown.
Kacy’s experiences range from teaching English in the Central Pacific islands of Kiribati to a one-room schoolhouse on Catalina. She has led trips in Costa Rica, Mexico, and a kayak business in Puerto Rico.
She was drawn back to Catalina to meet and marry her husband. Scott grew up in Bird Rock so they found their way back to San Diego, where they lived on their boat until their daughter, Lina, was 1.
While in San Diego, Kacy completed her Masters in Teaching at National University and has a clear multiple subject credential. She taught Marine Science to local students as the outreach coordinator for Sea Camp San Diego.
She found out about Sandy Hill by hiking with and then leading Family Adventure in Nature trips. She believes that having children connect with the natural world and find their place in it is, as essential as, breathing in fresh air. Kacy and Sandy Hill are a great combination.
